Quick answer
What is the Steel Fixing course?
This course covers cutting, bending and tying reinforcing steel to match drawings and bar schedules. Learners practise placing reinforcement for columns, beams, slabs and footings, setting laps, cover and chairs correctly, and fixing steel so it stays in position while concrete is placed. The training also covers handling steel safely and checking work before a concreting team arrives. The outcome is a steel fixer who can produce sound reinforcement work on site, with a certificate issued in line with SAQA-aligned unit standards where applicable.

Frequently asked questions
How much does steel fixing training cost?
The price depends on group size and delivery mode, so steel fixing is quoted per booking. Email info@rehtraining.co.za for a quote and we will respond with a figure for your group. Prices are negotiable for larger bookings. Training can be delivered online, at our Midrand or Durban centres, or on site at your premises.
How long does steel fixing training take?
Duration is quoted per booking, because it depends on group size and how the training is delivered. We run daily classes at our centres, so there is no waiting period to start. On-site training can be fitted around your project programme. Email us 061 580 7967 with your dates and we will confirm the duration.
Do I need to read drawings before I can do this course?
No, the course teaches you to read bar schedules and simple reinforcement drawings from the start. It helps if you have worked on a construction site before, but it is not a requirement. The trainer works through the basics step by step, and you practise on real schedules. If you already read drawings, you will simply move through that part faster.
Can you train at our construction site?
Yes, on-site training at client premises is one of our standard options. It suits contractors who want their fixing crew trained together before a big pour. We also run classes at our centres in Midrand and Durban, and online theory where it applies. Send your location and crew size on email info@rehtraining.co.za for a quote.
