Frequently asked questions
How much does MEWP training cost?
Pricing depends on group size and delivery mode, so the total will vary. We run daily classes at our centres in Midrand and Durban, and we can train on site at your premises. For an accurate quote, email us at info@rehtraining.co.za with the number of operators and your location.
What does the course cover?
You learn the safe operating procedures for mobile elevating work platforms, including pre-use inspections, load limitations, stability and ground conditions. The course also covers working at height and fall protection requirements, exclusion zones, emergency procedures and correct shutdown and parking after use. Practical operation is part of the day, and you receive a certificate on completion.
What is the difference between a MEWP and a cherry picker?
A cherry picker is one type of MEWP, usually a boom style platform. The MEWP course covers self-propelled elevating work platforms more broadly, including scissor and boom types. Both courses align to the SAQA unit standard for operating a self propelled elevating work platform. Check with your employer which machines you operate.
Can you train our operators on our machines?
Yes. On-site training lets operators practise on the machines they use every day, which is the most practical option for most companies. We also run daily classes at our centres in Midrand and Durban. Email us at info@rehtraining.co.za with your machine types and location to arrange training and get a quote for your group.
