Quick answer

What is the Formwork course?

This course covers the erection and stripping of formwork for columns, beams, slabs and walls. Learners work with timber and steel shutters, learn to set out and align formwork to line and level, and apply release agents and supports correctly. The training includes reading simple drawings, checking formwork before concrete is placed, and stripping and cleaning shutters safely. The outcome is a worker who can carry out formwork tasks to tolerance on a live construction site, with certification in line with SAQA-aligned unit standards where applicable.

Frequently asked questions

How much does formwork training cost?

Formwork training is quoted per booking, because the price depends on group size and delivery mode. Email us at info@rehtraining.co.za and we will send you a quote, usually within a day. Prices are negotiable for group bookings. You can train online, at our centres in Midrand or Durban, or on site at your premises.

How long does the formwork course take?

The duration depends on the group and the delivery mode, so it is quoted when you book. Daily classes run at our centres, which means no waiting period before you start. On-site training for a crew can be scheduled around your project programme. Contact us on email info@rehtraining.co.za or call 010 746 6954, and we will confirm dates and duration.

Is formwork training only for carpenters?

No, the course suits anyone working with formwork, including general workers, steel fixers and site supervisors. You do not need to be a qualified carpenter to attend, though basic site experience helps. The training covers the practical tasks and the checks needed before concrete is placed. If you are unsure whether the course fits you, email us and we can advise.

Can you train our crew on site?

Yes, on-site training at client premises is a standard delivery mode. It works well for contractors who need a whole formwork crew trained together, using their own equipment where practical. We also run classes at our centres in Midrand and Durban. Send us your location, crew size and dates on email info@rehtraining.co.za, and we will quote you.
