What does a scaffolding inspector do?
An inspector checks scaffolds before and during use to make sure they are safe. This course teaches you to inspect foundations, standards, ledgers, braces and platforms, check load limits and stability, and spot defects and non-compliance. You also learn to complete tagging records and recommend corrective actions. Practical inspection exercises happen on the day.
Can I do this course if I have not worked with scaffolding?
It helps to be familiar with scaffolding, because the course moves quickly through inspection criteria for different systems. If you are new to scaffolding, do the Scaffolding Erector course first. How long is the certificate valid?
Certificates are issued in line with SAQA-aligned unit standards where applicable. Many employers and client sites set their own inspection refresher intervals, so check what your site requires.
