Frequently asked questions
How much does the Chemical Hazards (HAZCHEM) course cost?
Pricing for this one-day course depends on group size and delivery mode, so email us at info@rehtraining.co.za for a quote. We run daily classes, so there is no waiting period. Training can be done at our centres in Midrand or Durban, on-site at your premises, or online. Group bookings are negotiable, so the more staff you send, the better the rate.
What is a HAZCHEM code and will I learn to read it?
Yes. The course covers chemical classification, hazard symbols and how to interpret HAZCHEM codes and emergency information panels. You also practise responding to chemical spills and leaks, selecting personal protective equipment, and evacuating or isolating an area safely. The content aligns with unit standard 120370, which deals with monitoring and making recommendations on health and safety principles for hazardous substances in the workplace.
Is this course only for emergency response teams?
No. It is aimed at anyone who works with or around hazardous chemicals, including warehouse, manufacturing and maintenance staff. Emergency response team members also do this course because it covers spill and leak response, evacuation and incident reporting. If your team handles chemicals daily, this training builds the awareness to spot hazards before they turn into incidents.
Where can I do the training?
You have three options: at our training centres in Midrand (14 Douglas Road, Glen Austin) and Durban (62 Lilian Ngoyi Street, Windermere), on-site at your premises, or online. Classes run daily. For centre dates or an on-site booking, email info@rehtraining.co.za or call 010 746 6954, and we will confirm a date that suits you.
